My stash of orphaned parlor bodies was gassing for a cedar top makeover. My stash of orphaned cedar top was gassing for an old-time birch body. After you’ve listened to the video soundclip of this guitar you’ll agree with me…they make a great match. The short scale length of this parlor not only makes fretting easier but also draws the tone out nicely, the sustain being ever so sweet. Good looking American-made flattop at a fair price.
SPECS: 0-Size, 12-fret neck with slotted headstock, ladder-braced solid cedar book-matched top in aged, natural finish, solid birch sides and back in black lacquer, poplar neck in black lacquer finish, adjustable 2-way truss rod, MOP fretboard inlays with corresponding side dots, vintage tuning machines, “C” neck profile, new radius’d ebony fretboard with new medium frets, new ebony pyramid bridge, cream top binding, unbleached bone pins, nut and saddle. Nut width: 1 3/4”, String spacing 2 1/4”, Scale length 24”, upper bout 9 1/2”, lower bout 13 1/4”, body length 17 7/8”, Overall length 36 1/4”, Depth at end block 3 3/4”, Neck depth at 1st fret 7/8”, Neck depth at 5th fret 7/8” Action: 3/32”, string gauge setup: D’addario EJ26 Custom Light gauge in standard tuning.
CONDITION: Complete shop rebuild using original and repurposed woods with upgrades as noted. Open pore lacquer finish on top. Evidence of prior capo use. Prior treble side upper rim repair. Please note that vintage, used or repurposed materials will have underlying swirls, scrapes, scratches, bumps and bruises. Any new elements/features added during the rebuild were made to fit in with the old.
SOUND: Fingerstyle tone all the way! Think BARE FINGER STYLE! This cedar parlor tone is enhanced by the scale length calling for the bridge to sit at the sweet spot of the lower bout. It does not require much effort to coax out a beautiful, melodic sound out of this guitar.
