This vintage 0-size 12-fret was born in the mid-1960s with roots in the United factory from New Jersey. The top has been upgraded to tight grained spruce with modern ladder-bracing. The 12-fret neck and body are original save some valuable upgrades including rebuilt neck assembly (adjustable truss rod, new radius’d rosewood fretboard, new frets) and an rosewood floating bridge with compensated bone saddle. You won’t find a finer combination of looks, playability and bluesy tone for the money.
SPECS: 0-size body, 12-fret neck with solid headstock, ladder-braced solid spruce top in relic natural finish, birch sides and back in original finish, Factory neck in original finish with “C” neck profile, new rosewood fretboard with new medium frets, modern adjustable truss rod, MOP dot fretboard inlays with corresponding side dots, cream top and soundhole binding, vintage easy-turn tuning machines, new rosewood floating bridge with compensated saddle slot, repurposed bone nut and saddle. CONDITION: Complete rebuild to modern standard for structure and playability including updated bracing, modern truss rod, new fretboard, frets, and bridge. Custom made floating bridge with compensated saddle slot improves intonation immensely. Please note that repurposed woods and vintage surfaces will have underlying swirls, scrapes, scratches, bumps and bruises. Any new features were made to fit in with the old.
SOUND: Bluesy tone and old ladder braced guitar woods seem to go together. This example gets a bit sassy when digging in and yet seems to carry itself well when played bare fingerstyle. Nice sustain and easy to play. Link to video soundclip below.
