70’s vintage lawsuit Martin 00-21NY copy in X-braced spruce/mahogany, 1 7/8” nut, 2 5/16” string spacing, quintessential folk guitar (back in the day)

A real Martin 00-21NY has always been my holy grail guitar but way out of my price range. This lawsuit copy made in the 1970s of solid spruce over solid mahogany is a close second. It was made to resemble the specs of a folk era icon of guitars: wider nut, larger-than-parlor body but swapping out mahogany for rosewood. This guitar not only looks timeless but also plays easy, sounds great and the build quality is exceptional. If I wasn’t poor and desperate I would keep this one for myself.
SPECS: 00-Size body, 12-fret neck with slotted headstock, X-braced solid spruce book-matched top, book-matched solid mahogany sides and back, mahogany neck with brazilian rosewood headstock overlay, original adjustable truss rod, MOP fretboard inlays with corresponding side dots, original tuning machines, low oval-ish neck profile, brazilian rosewood fretboard with original frets, E.I. rosewood bridge, binding on top and back, original sound hole rosette, unbleached bone pins, nut and saddle. Nut width 1 7/8”, String spacing 2 5/16”, Scale length 24 3/4”, upper bout 10 1/4”, lower bout 14”, body length 19”, Overall length 37 7/8”, Depth at end block 4 1/8”, Neck depth at 1st fret 3/4”, Neck depth at 5th fret 7/8” Action: 3/32”, string gauge setup: D’addario EJ15 Extra Light gauge or EJ26 Custom Light in standard tuning, customer choice.
CONDITION: Completely original except for upgraded bridge to improve string spacing at the saddle. Dings on top tell its age. Safety screw in neck block. Please note that vintage, used or repurposed materials will have underlying swirls, scrapes, scratches, bumps and bruises. Any new elements/features added during the rebuild were made to fit in with the old.
SOUND: This body size and wood combination are a favorite among fingerstyle players and the wide string spacing does nothing to contradict this. Tone is warm and resonant with nice sustain. Be sure to checkout the soundclip link. Setup currently for fingerstyle but can easily take some strumming and flat picking as well. I can adjust the setup for a more aggressive attack at the customers' request.
